Hobbit Movies - Tolkien Forums

There are a LOT of Tolkien forums out there but some of them are better than others. You want to avoid hostile forums like David Averil-Pence's so-called Tolkien Forum because he allowed at least one of his moderators to engage in a smear campaign against Tolkien scholar Michael Martinez. The Tolkien news groups are filled with flame wars and nonsense. Here are some better forums to look at.

• MERP Forums

  Although the MERP site is primarily devoted to Middle-earth role-playing games, it's a great overall resource on Tolkien and Middle-earth.

• The Tolkien Forum at SF-Fandom

  This is technically the oldest Web-based forum for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien. Many Tolkien scholars have participated in the discussions through the years. The forum is moderated so flame wars and poison pen campaigns are not allowed.

• Endor Tolkien Forum on Google Groups

  This is the largest private Tolkien discussion group on Google Groups. It's a better alternative to the Tolkien news groups because it's moderated and you don't have to worry about spam, flame wars, and off-topic idiocy.

• The Tolkien Forum at Xenite.Org

  Just another interface to the SF-Fandom forum, this Tolkien forum helps you browse subject lines quickly and easily.

• Minas Tirith

  Well-run fan forum devoted to Tolkien and Middle-earth.
